The Cross River State Deputy Governor, Barrister EfiokCobham has implored the out-going Corp members in the State to always be good ambassadors of their respective states and the Nation wherever they may find themselves.

Speaking in Calabar on Thursday at the passing-out ceremony and subsequent declaration of the 2012 Batch 'B' service year closed, Barrister Cobham lauded the Corps members for their enormous contributions during their service year towards the development of the State, especially at the grass roots level.

He urged them to note that their passing-out meant a graduation into a higher devotion to national service, as some of them might be called upon to contribute to national advancement in different capacities.

He also expressed gratitude to all those who have contributed in one way or the other towards the success of the service year, such as NYSC Management Committee, Local Government Authorities, Traditional Rulers, Security Agencies, describing them as being "Worthy stakeholders of the scheme."

The State NYSC Coordinator, Engr. NkerekeIbangha disclosed that the 2,752 Corps members posted to the state last year have met the requirements for receiving the certificates of National Service after their orientation course, activities in their various places of primary assignment and Community Development services and therefore are worthy of passing out.

According to him, three other corps members would repeat the service year, having absconded, and would be re-mobilized whenever they resurface; while four others would have their service year extended as disciplinary action for various offences committed during the year.

He further disclosed that 22 corps members bagged the highest Awards in the State being the State Governor's Award, adding that 38 others were selected for the State Governing Board Chairman's Award, while another 238 received the State Coordinator's Commendation for service to the people of the State.

Engr. Ibangha thanked the Governor and the people of the State for their assistance towards the scheme and their hospitality to the corps members during their service year in the State.

He added that, while in the State, the corps members were given training in various vocations and entrepreneurship aimed at making them self-reliant and self-employed.

High points of the ceremony was the inspection of a Guard of Honour by the Deputy Governor, mounted by the Corps members, and taking of salute by the Deputy Governor at the march-past by the passing-out corps members.

A good advice to every one of them
Let's hope they hold on to it and do as they were told.
