Super Eagles defender Elderson Echiejile is hoping a solid season in Portugal with Braga will guarantee him a spot on the plane to Brazil next year.
.
The 25-year-old is into his fourth season with the Portuguese club but has featured in just four domestic games this season, a trend which will be of concern to the former Rennes man leading up to the World Cup in June 2014.
.
Echiejile has been a mainstay in Stephen Keshi's Super Eagles team since making his debut in 2009 and is determined to be involved at the showpiece, insisting he will work as hard as possible to ensure he is involved.
.
"My plan is to make sure I continue playing regularly here in Portugal, as well as keeping fit and working hard so as to get to my very best," he told BrilaFM.
.
"I believe that by working hard my ability will keep improving if I continue to play regularly, which is what I am working on."
.
The African Cup of Nations winner went on to express his belief that the current crop of Nigerian stars have what it takes to progress to the latter stages of the competition.
.
"If we didn't have a good team, I am not sure we would have qualified for the World Cup," he said.
.
"I believe we have a good blend of players and looking at what we have done so far.
.
"We have shown that we are a good squad, but I sincerely believe that come next year when we go to the World Cup in Brazil we will surprise a lot of people as well as a lot of teams."

Well Stephen Keshi already told everyone of them that they'll have to fight for a shirt for his World Cup Team.
