Manslaughter: DPP Says Driver Has Case To Answer

The Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has established a case of reckless and dangerous driving causing death, against one Yinusa Ganiyu, a driver.

An advice by the DPP to a Surulere Chief Magistrates' Court, Lagos on Wednesday showed that a prima facie case was established against Ganiyu, 34.

The report stated that the accused hit a bus from behind, causing two passengers, including the driver of the bus and the deceased to sustained injuries.

The report said that the injury sustained by one Alhaji Muda Oyebanji, 68, led to his death.

It stated that the accused was not focused in his driving and that he lost control of the vehicle, causing the accident.

The report adviced that the accused should be prosecuted for reckless and dangerous driving and for causing death.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the accused who was first arraigned on Oct. 19, is facing a two-count charge before the court.
