Ekiti Bars Civil Servants From Partisan Politics

Any civil servant found engaging in partisan politics in Ekiti State risks losing his job, the state Head of Service, HoS,  Mr. Bunmi Famosaya has warned.

The HoS gave the warning, yesterday, at a press conference in Ado-Ekiti  as part of activities marking the 2013 Civil Service Week with the theme, 'Enhancing Accountability, Transparency and Integrity.'

He, however, warned civil servants  to remain apolitical and operate within the parameters of the service rule, noting that   engaging in political activities by civil servant amounted to  act of misconduct.

The HoS, therefore, warned that any civil servant found playing partisan politics in the course of performing  his official duties would be  dealt with accordingly.

Famosaya who  emphasised the importance of ethical conduct by civil servants, added that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria equally  barred  civil servants from being political.

"However, I must say that it is the constitutional right of every Nigerian citizen to vote  at elections, provided he/she is a registered voter."

He recalled that some civil servants, including an assistant director, had been caught and forcefully retired for engaging in political activities.

Ekiti State Governor has not really been praised for good like the other governors so he has to work on doing good for his indigens.
