The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) condemned the demand by the 36 state governors for the removal of petroleum subsidy, as pre-condition for the implementation the N18,000 minimum wage.

NLC vice President, Issa Aremu, in a statement on Friday in Kaduna, condemned the governors' demand. He described the governors's demand as a manifestation of "policy dictatorship".

Aremu also accused the state governors of attempting to arm-twist President Goodluck Jonathan into taking an unpopular decision, which push Nigerians to revolt against the Federal government.

He concluded his statement by advising the state governors to devise viable means of improving the economy of their respective states, rather than relying on monthly oil revenue that could not sustain them.
