Kidnapped DELSU Lecturer Rescued

A kidnapped lecturer of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Emmanuel Okolie and his wife, has been rescued by police detectives in Abraka, Delta State.

The lecturer and his wife who were kidnapped by three armed men who broke into their apartment at Ebayadata, Obiaruku, Ukwani Local Government Area of the state last weekend.

Reports said that the kidnappers, not satisfied after robbing the family of valuables including a laptop valued at N140,000 and N260,000 cash, abducted the lecturer and his wife and took them to an unknown destination.

Luck, however, ran out on them as the detectives, who were working on a tip-off around Obiaruku swung into action and went after them.

The detectives were said to have accosted the kidnappers along Obiaruku/Utagbono road where they ran into the hoodlum's hideout as they were escaping with the victims, but upon sighting the security operatives, they opened fire on the operatives.

They were subsequently overpowered and arrested. The couple has returned to their family.
