FG Sacks Aviation Chiefs

Nigeria's aviation sector was, on Tuesday, thrown into confusion, following the news of the removal of chief executives of the aviation agencies by the Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Ada Oduah.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Auyo, was  affected while his counterpart in the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr Richard Aisuebeogun was also said to have been affected.

While Aisuebeogun was replaced with the Director of Operations, George Uriesi, Auyo was replaced with the agency's Director of Electronics and Engineering Services, Mazi Nnamdi Udoh.

The Rector, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Captain Adebayo Araba, who was appointed as the rector of the college in 2007, was also sacked and  replaced with the Director of Flying in the school, Captain Chinyere Kalu.

Tuesday's sack came three weeks after the minister was said to have called for the files of the aviation chief executives.

When the Nigerian Tribune spoke with the Special Adviser to the Minister on Media, Joe Obi, by  phone for confirmation, he said he was not aware but promised to get back.

At the time of filing this report, one of the chief executives had received his letter of sack.
