THE Appeal Court sitting in Makurdi yesterday upheld the judgment of the State and National Elections' Petition Tribunal which voided the election of the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Terhemen Tarzoor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Makurdi North Constituency, in favour of Action Congress of Nigeria (CAN) candidate Avine Agbum.

In his ruling, Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenan observed that the tribunal's decision to cancel four of out the five polling units rigged in favour of the speaker was proper.

The court therefore ordered that Tarzoor's certificate of return be retrieved immediately and issued to Agbum.

The sacked speaker was said to have taken away his personal belongings from his office two hours before the judgment.

The court also ordered for a retrial of the petitions of the ACN candidate for Gwer/Gwer West, Asema Achado  against the election of Mrs. Christiana Alaaga(PDP); that of Jacob Ajene (ACN)  against the victory of Samson Okwu (PDP) for Oju\Obi Federal Constituency as well as Titus Terungwa Leta (ACN) against the election of  Barr.Ayua  (PDP).
