A process which CNPP, in a statement said, gave Zinox Technology – 80,000, Hair Electrical Appliances – 30,000, and Avante Technology – 22,000 DDC machines at $1443 per unit.

It also applauded INEC for looking inwards by selecting an indigenous company - Zinox Technology - to lead the two other companies which will procure the equipment adding that: "for as an indigenous company, Zinox will empower mostly Nigerians with technological know-how, as maintenance will be better guaranteed and retention of profit will be higher."

The statement signed by CNPP's National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Osita Okechukwu said: "We salute INEC, when we understand that Zinox presented the best bid both in terms of pricing and proven record of procuring the same machines at short notice in the midst of confusion for INEC in 2006.

Rotimi Amaechi

Plans for urban development and slum demolition through a restructuring of the Port Harcourt waterfront by the Rivers State government have been a violently contested issue. Amnesty is warning that continued development may leave as many as 200,000 people homeless.
