Job Title: Research Technician
Term: 2-year renewable contract
Location: Ibadan, Nigeria
Organisation: International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)
Sector: International Non-Profit Research-For-Development (R4D) Organization

Duties:
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following:
•   Conduct DNA/RNA extraction and assess DNA quality and quantity.
•   Set up and conduct PCR for genotyping.
•   Perform gel electrophoresis.
•   Score genotype data.
•   Conduct field and screen-house/green house phenotyping of plants.
•   Maintain lab book detailing all experimentation, methods and results
•   Assist in training of partners, visitors and students on genotyping and phenotyping activities.
•   Assist in ordering of consumables for laboratory and field activities.
•   Carry out other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification and Experience:
•   HND or B.Sc in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or Biotechnology plus at least one year experience.
•   The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently and should be able to work extra hours.
•   Training in Genetics, Plant Biology or Biotechnology is desirable.
