Location: Project fabrication yards, both within Nigeria and overseas, and offshore installation sites

Job Objective/ Purpose of Job: Provide multi-discipline Quantity Surveying (Progress and Cost Measurement) services during the fabrication and installation phases of Projects for FACILITIES.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Functionally Reports To: Head Commercial Services

Administratively Reports To: Head Commercial Services

Supervises: n/a

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal Head Project Services, Project Engineers, Fabrication and Construction Site Teams, Cost Engineers, Contracts Engineers.

External Project Fabrication and Installation Contractors

Job Duties/ Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

1. Provide multi-discipline Progress and Cost Measurement services for the Project in line with Progress and Cost Measurement procedure (to be established by Project Services).

2. Audit Contractor's Progress and Cost Measurement procedures.

3. Carry out ad-hoc checks on Contractor and progress reports.

4. Check and certify Contractor milestone payment claims

5. Assist in the review of Contractor and Vendor's Variation Order Requests as and when required and, if appropriate, generate negotiating position in liaison with the relevant Project Engineer.

6. Provide weekly and monthly progress reports, as required.

7. Check and verify Contractor Bill of quantities for Variation Requests and prepare in house BQ/ cost estimates for Variation instructions

8. Prepare Bill of quantities and in house engineering estimates for variations.

9. Conduct market surveys to provide negotiation supports to Contracts and Project Manager.

Key Performance Indicators/ Performance Goals:

Check and certify Contractor and Vendor milestone payment claims within the agreed time frames for the Project.

Financial Dimensions:

Provide multi-discipline QS services for fabrication and installation works of circa US$200MM in value

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education Qualification: Degree in an Engineering Discipline, although lower qualifications can be accepted where experience levels are demonstrably high and appropriate to job requirements

Professional Qualification: Full Membership of a relevant Internationally recognised professional institute essential

Experience:

•   Minimum of 15 years in the Upstream Oil and Gas industry, with at least 8 years in a similar position.

•   Operating company and Nigerian / West African experience preferred.

•   Age 37+

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIREMENTS:

Functional/ Technical: Sound knowledge and proven experience of Quantity Surveyor techniques for multi-discipline offshore oil and gas projects.

Managerial: Good communication, administrative and team player skills.

Behavioural: Methodical and well organised.

Comfortable working with a multinational, multicultural team

WORK CYCLE (HOURS/ DAYS):

Monday – Saturday Local contract staff: 07:30 – 16:30 hrs*

Expatriate contract staff: 07:30 -17:30 hrs*
  • additional hours as operationally required.

    Rotation 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off (Expatriates only) – contract position
