Nyako wins Adamawa guber polls, ACN rejects outcome

 THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the former Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Murtala Nyako, the winner of the governorship election held across the state on Saturday.

According to the results released by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Kassim Gana Gaidam, in Yola, the state capital on Sunday, Nyako, the Peoples Democratic candidate, polled 302, 953 votes, representing 44.2 per cent of the total votes cast to beat his closest rival,  Markus  Gundiri of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) who polled 241,023 votes, representing 35.1 per cent of the total votes cast.

Further breakdown showed that Nyako won in 14 of the state's 21 local councils.

Meanwhile, ACN has rejected the results.
