The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following duties:

1. Provides induction briefing on benefits and prepare personnel actions on initial appointments, extension of fixed-term appointments, promotions and conversions for locally recruited staff. Follow-up on contract extensions, within- grade increment, promotions and entitlements to allowances and benefits as well as pension fund enrolment and distribution of forms. Follow-up with UNJSPF on payments of benefits.

2. Maintains the attendance record and the office leave plan including home leave monitoring; issuance/re-issuances of UNLPs, residence permits, etc.

3. Prepare, maintain and update human resource database and VISION reports on staffing lists, expiration of contracts, etc.

4. Assist in the recruitment of NO/GS staff by reviewing appropriateness of job descriptions. Arranging and issuing internal and external vacancy announcements.

5. Establishes and maintains official status files for all staff members in UNICEF Nigeria. Maintains up-to-date job- descriptions for all staff (international and local) within Nigeria.

Minimum qualifications and competencies:

• Completion of secondary education. Training in Human Resources field is desirable.

• Five years' experience in the Field of Human resources/Administration, experience with an international organization desirable.

• Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of one other UN working languages and knowledge of local language of the duty station is an asset.

• In-depth knowledge of Human Resource rules and regulations;

• Very good communications and ability to produce clear and concise reports

• Analyzing, Planning, organizing and conceptual skills

• Very good knowledge of computer applications • Strong drive for result and ability to work well with people particularly in a multicultural setting

• Following instructions and procedures and high sense of integrity.

• Initiative, passion and commitment to UNICEF's mission and professional values.

• Good time-management skills and flexibility.
