Imo PDP adopts Chikwe for Women leader

OWERRI-The Imo  State caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has adopted former Aviation Minister, Dr. Kema Chikwe, for the position of National Women Leader in the forthcoming election of the national officers of the party.

The adoption has, however, instigated a minor crisis among some section of the party in the state who claimed that they were not carried along in the adoption of the former minister and ambassador.

News of the formal adoption of the former ambassador was conveyed in a statement issued by the publicity secretary of the state chapter of the party, Chief Bledyn Amajirionwu, yesterday.

Giving notice of the adoption of the former ambassador as the sole candidate of the state for the position which is zoned to the state, the PDP said: "Sequel  to the zoning to Imo State of the position of National woman leader by the South-East caucus and zonal executive committee of the People's Democratic Party, Imo State caucus was convened on March 10, 2012 to deliberate on the issue."

"After painstaking and due deliberations ,  members of the state caucus unanimously adopted Dr. Kema Chikwe for the position of National woman leader."

"The   People's Democratic Party in Imo State, therefore, calls for total support from the other states in the South East and indeed Nigeria to ensure the election of H.E. Amb. Dr. Kema Chikwe as the next National woman leader during the 24th March, 2012 National Convention of our great party."

However, there were allegations yesterday that some stakeholders were muttering that they were not carried along in the adoption of the former ambassador.
