After starting with a humble ice cream deal on March 22, DealDey, the leading daily deals service in Nigeria has turned one today, offering a whooping 365% off its startup journey.

The group-buying service which was founded on March 22, 2011 has successfully changed the e-commerce space in Nigeria, allowing its members in Lagos and Abuja to get over 800 discounted deals so far on a range of products and services in restaurants, spas, as well as retail shops.

Currently with 245 merchants and over 6,000 purchases, the service is one of the fastest growing e-commerce platforms in Nigeria.

In a message posted on its Facebook page today, the company said:

"As we turn 1 today, team DealDey would like to say a big thank you to our members. We are truly grateful!"

With over 100,000 members on its platform and over N10 million saved in discounted deals as at December 2011, Dealdey.com has become the go-to source for the best daily deals in Nigeria.

The company received $1 million in funding last year through its parent company e-Motion Advertising, which received a significant investment from Sweden-based Kinnevik, an investment holding company.

Sim Shagaya, DealDey's Founder & CEO, had earlier noted that building a strong logistics infrastructure has been the key to his company's success in the e-commerce space.

He further said that DealDey has invested in in-house systems as well as pick-up points where customers can collect their items. Shagaya also revealed that the company was planning to acquire a warehouse to ease the logistics infrastructure issues.

Since its launch, DealDey has reportedly made about N7 million in revenues from sales commissions and has saved its customers over N10 million in discounted deals.

As the company turns one today, we celebrate with its about 20 employees and grab a piece of the whooping 365% discount on its journey as an e-commerce startup.
