‘Obasanjo took BOT members by surprise’

Secretary of the BOT, Alhaji Walid Jibrin, who spoke with our correspondent said even as at yesterday, he was yet to receive a formal communication on the letter.

He said though the former president is not obliged to send the letter to him as secretary of the board, he can only make comments on the development when he has received a formal communication on the development.

Another member of the BOT, Dr. Shettima Mustpaha when contacted, said he also learnt of the development on Tuesday and that the former president did not indicate to other members of the board he was going to take such an action at the last meeting of the BOT.

The development, our sources confirmed, has put the BOT members in confusion as they are at a loss over what to do about the position before the tenure of the present board expires.

Alhaji Jibrin explained to our correspondent that until a formal communication is made available to the board, not much could be done.

"Well until I receive a formal communication, I will not be able to comment on what would be done," he stated, while Dr. Mustapha simply said he doesnt know what would happen when asked what would become of the position of the chairman of the BOT since the last one has resigned.
