PDP pledges to resolve South-South crisis

Peoples Democratic Party (South-South) has said it is putting measures in place to resolve the differences among members of the party in the zone.

The PDP National Vice Chairman, South-South, Dr. Steve Oru, said this on Tuesday after he resumed office at the party's zonal secretariat in Port Harcourt.

Oru promised to do everything to unite members of the PDP within the zone.

He assured members that the party in the zone would work towards achieving economic integration for the zone and the realisation of the President's transformation agenda.

Oru said, "The way the PDP went about its conventions at the various levels showed that the party promotes internal democracy. I will ensure contest are free and fair and will reduce internal wrangling to the lowest level.

"We will work for the economic integration of the South-South zone; promote unity, peace in the region. We will work with the President in his transformation agenda."

Handing over to Oru, the immediate past national vice chairman of the zone, Chief Edet Nkpubre, charged him to cultivate a good relationship with state governors and party members.

Identifying inadequate finance as one of the challenges faced by the party in the zone, Nkpubre urged the new executive members of the party not to hesitate to find solution to the problem.

The former national vice chairman of the PDP offered to render assistance anytime his contributions were needed for the development of party.

He, however, expressed optimism that the PDP would continue to grow in strength politically, adding that the governors in the zone were working hard towards the development of their states.
