NEMA distributes relief materials to two burnt schools

The National Emergency Management Agency has donated relief materials worth thousands of Naira to the School of Health Technology, Kankia, and Government Girls's College, Katsina, ravaged by fire in February 2012.

The NEMA Director of Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Edwin Mai'unguwa, who presented the items to the two affected schools in Katsina State on Thursday, said the donation would assist the victims of the fire disaster.

Sympathising with the schools over the incident, Mai'unguwa urged them to take precautionary measures to prevent a recurrence, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Materials donated include 200 beds, 200 mattresses and 200 blankets.

In his address, the Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Danladi Nasidi, who commended NEMA for the donation, said the state government had directed the construction of a new hostel, an administrative block and library for the School of Health Technology, Kankia.

Also speaking, the Executive Director of the State Rehabilitation and Emergency Relief Agency, Alhaji Hassan Rawayau, thanked NEMA for supporting the victims of the fire incidents.

He also acknowledged the existing partnership between NEMA and the state government on how to respond to emergency situations and natural disasters.
