Northern governors greet Jonathan on TIME magazine's honour

 President Jonathan President Jonathan  The Northern States Governors Forum has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan who was listed among 100 most influential persons in the world by the prestigious TIME Magazine for the year 2012.

Chairman of the forum and Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, described the recognition as ``an acknowledgement of Nigeria’s relevance in the international community''.

The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Danladi Ndayebo, quoted Aliyu as saying that Jonathan deserved the honour.

``It is an affirmation of the giant strides taken by his administration to transform the nation in spite of huge challenges.

``This recognition should spur the President to work harder in ensuring that the transformation agenda is achieved,” the statement added.

The governor, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, urged Nigerians to use the nomination of their President to imbibe the virtues of love for God and country and strive for the development of the nation.

Aliyu said the forum was optimistic that Nigeria could become a world power if the people worked hard for the good of the country.
