Victims’ relatives throng crash site

LAGOS — Relatives of the  victims still throng the site, apparently with the hope of seeing their loved ones. But their hope was dashed when they were informed that none of them survived.

One of the relatives who identified himself as Emmanuel Egho, said he lost his cousin, one Stafold Obuche. Effort by this reporter to reach the widow failed as Emannuel hinted that she was devastated by the tragic incident.

According to Emmanuel, "he was the Managing Director of Imoni Eyame Holdings Limited,  located in Delta State. He was one of the biggest  rubber exporters in Africa. He was 54 years old"

15 families displaced

So far, 15 families, according to LASEMA, had been displaced. Although Governor Babatunde Fashola who earlier visited the site, announced that the displaced families would be relocated to Agbowa. But as at 3pm, there was sign of any relocation .

One of the affected persons who gave his name as Olatunji Lawal, said: "Yes, the governor was here earlier and said we would be relocated to Agbowa. But how do we go?  It is not as if I prefer to stay here, no! Already, this building is shaking because of the vibration from the aircraft. But so far, nobody has come to take the number of those affected and nobody also has come to inform us on how we will be relocated. I still believe it is a political statement until action is taken. Yesterday, my family  slept in a church. We are still waiting to see the outcome of the relocation."

Lawal who could not hide his gratitude to God for sparing his life, said the plane would have landed on his building but for the mango tree adjacent  his building that broke its wing  and in the  process diverted it to where it landed.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Umar Manko was seen at the site controlling traffic. Other paramilitary agencies like Nigeria Security and Civil Defence, officials of the Nigerian Red Cross Society  and those of NEMA, LASEMA and fire service among others were sighted.
