Job Title: Legal Counsel

Reports to: Head of Legal, West African Markets

Principal Accountabilities: •   Ensure that the legal requirements of various projects and initiatives are understood and met within Cluster

•   Communicate effectively cross-functional and within the Legal function to keep all stakeholders informed, address and seek solutions for legal related problems of mutual interest and continuous improvement with Cluster

•   Continually seek ways to optimize and improve systems and work process to drive efficiency and reduce costs in Cluster

•   Design and deploy stakeholder map for WAM Legal stakeholders to support business objectives and engagement in Cluster

•   Implement defence strategy for non-strategic litigations in Cluster

•   Manage Cluster litigations matters and ensure cost effective management of external legal counsels

•   Implement WAM defined AIT and Security strategies in Cluster

•   Proactively advise the business and drive the changes or proposed changes in the corporate structures of any operations Cluster

•   Ensure proper and timeous compliance of Cluster 2 marketing activities as laid out in statutes and regulations in addition to those required under any Trade Blocks as relevant.

•   Ensure provision of robust legal services to Cluster•            

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

•   Have a very good understanding of FMCG business

•   Have a predominant background on Intellectual Property laws

•   Have good interpersonal skills

•   Be details focused

•   Be very dynamic and excellent self-manager

•   Exhibit good managerial and communications skills;

•   Have excellent written and verbal communication skills;

•   Have excellent level in French language; Good level of English language will be appreciated
