INEC gets N1.95b for 150,000 ballot boxes

MINISTERS approved yesterday N37 billion contracts.



The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) got N1.95bilion to buy 150,000 transparent, collapsible ballot boxes at N13,000 per unit.

Emchai Limited won the contract.

The boxes are to be used for next year's general elections billed for April.

INEC chair Prof. Attahiru Jega was at the Presidential Villa yesterday to defend the proposal for the procurement of the boxes.

Minister of Information and Communications Dr. Dora Akunyili with whom were Minister of Works, Sanusi Dagash; Minister of State, Power, Nuhu Wyat; Minister of State, Information and Communications, Labaran Maku; Minister of FCT, Caleb Olubolade and Minister of Finance Olusegun Aganga, spoke to reporters on the decisions of the FEC meeting.
