EKITI State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has said that the progressive forces have no apology to offer for the roles played by the former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the liberation of the Southwest from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fayemi who made the remark on Friday when the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) House of Representatives caucus visited him in his office said the battle led by Tinubu and Lagos State Government had pioneered a renewal in Yoruba land.

The members of the caucus led by the Minority Whip in the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, visited Ado-Ekiti to felicitate with Ekiti people on the Court of Appeal judgement which catapulted Fayemi and the ACN to power in the "Fountain of Knowledge."

He declared that the on-going dismantling of the "edifice of fraud" allegedly erected by the PDP one-by-one in the Southwest would continue in the 2011 general elections, adding that it is just a matter of time for Oyo and Ogun States to be taken over by the ACN.

The governor noted that without the role played by Lagos, the unprecedented electoral fraud wreaked on the Southwest in the 2007 general elections would not have been reversed. He explains further that the new lease of life being enjoyed in the zone would not have been a reality.

Recalling the persecution suffered by the Tinubu-led administration in the hands of the Obasanjo presidency leading to the seizure of the statutory Lagos council funds, Fayemi said the resilience exhibited by Lagos against an oppressive Federal Government provided the source for the recovery of the states lost to the PDP in the 2007 polls.

Fayemi said: "We do not have to apologize about the role of Lagos in the renewal of the Yoruba land. Without Lagos, we would not have been here. Yoruba land would not have had the present hope and restoration of our collective integrity.

These (Lagos) people fought the Federal Government to a standstill on their own. The PDP rigged the elections and these people fought them and it is their determination, refusal to be intimidated and perseverance that has brought us to where we are.

"This single factor in this equation is Lagos; I don't think that this is the time for you to remove your hands from these babies you are nursing. We will need your prayers, advice and support. I am confident that this lonely journey will certainly yield dividends. I am confident that we shall return all our six federal constituencies and the three senatorial districts to you," Fayemi stated.
