CBN to introduce N5000 Note with faces of three historical women leaders

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that it will introduce the N5,000 note into the system with the faces of three late prominent Nigerian female activists.

This is contrary to speculations that CBN planned to use Nigeria's Late Former President, Umar Musa Yar'adua's face on the note.

The N5000 note which will be introduce next year will feature Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Hajia Gambo Sawaba, and Margaret Ekpo whose their pictures featured below.


Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti: lte politician and women's right activist (1900 -1978)


Hajia Gambo Sawaba: late politician and activist (1933 - 2001)


Margaret Ekpo: late politician and social mobilizer (1914 - 2006)
