Seun Kuti has made his feelings known about the face of his late grandmother – Funmilayo Ransome - Kuti, who is said to be one of Nigeria's female Heroine of her time, on the now-suspended N5000 note.

Talking to Channels TV via Google hangout, the son of the legendary singer – Fela Kuti stated that: '(I) don't have the power to stop d FG from printing the N5000 note but I want the FG to remove my granma's face from it...'

He added, after informing that the Kuti family was not informed of the plans: 'I am the last child in the generation of my family, I don't think recognition is what we need from the federal government'

It was through the radio that we got to know that her face would be used...we were not officially contacted.

If I had N40billion, I will rebuild the federal government primary and secondary schools, rather than waste it on printing the N5000 note. That note cannot solve Nigeria's problems, the government should learn to invest in people...the Kuti family is more concerned about the development of the country not the naira. If I were the FG, I would establish more schools, improve on the educational system rather than come up with N5000 note idea."

i passionately do not agree with him.i see nothing wrong in the existence of 5000 naira notes in our country.

How does he know that? How can he really vouch for what his grandmother would have done? He should simply say he himself does not like the 5000 note initiative.

It is a bad idea.not the 5000 note aspect.but the changing of 20 naira, 10 naira and 5 naira to coins.who likes to use coins?

I reason with Seun. The 5000 Naira note is a wasteful adventure and misplaced priority. That is not what Nigeria needs now.... The economy is already battered due to institutional and communal corruption. FG should address the problem of power, unemployment, academic decadence, and other social vices rather than wasting money on creating new note.

Uhmmmm!! This 5000 naira note ain't going to chnge noin jare. Its just going to mke corruption more rampant
