Ondo PDP accuses LP of unprovoked attack

AKURE — THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State, weekend, alleged that its members were being attacked in different wards in Idanre Local Government Area and other parts of the state by supporters of the ruling Labour Party, LP.

Media Adviser to PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Kunle Adebayo, said in Akure that victims of the attack included Mrs. Bosede Aladesawe, Mr. Akinlola Akinlolu, Mr. Ayo Afolabi, Miss Bosede Akinbobola, Tunde Oloni and Mr. O. Fayomi, who is PDP's coordinator for Owena polling units.

Adebayo said the incident took place just a day after the police and the people of Idanre resisted the siege, violence and intimidation as well as breakdown of law and order which the state government attempted to visit on the campaign train of Chief Olusola Oke who was in Idanre on ward campaigns.

Meanwhile, the former Minister of Defence, Prince Tokunbo Kayode, has said that  PDP governorship candidate, Olusola Oke, will deliver on all his electoral promises if voted into power.

He said this at an open rally of the party in his country home in Ikaramu, Akoko.

Tokunbo said the leaders of the party in Ondo state have united for the sake of the development of the state.

According to him, PDP is the only party that has the blueprint that could bring about economic development that would liberate the state.

While reacting to the insinuations that the presidency has adopted the LP candidate, he said the position of the party and the Presidency is clear.

He said the only candidate that the party and the presidency recognise is Olusola Oke. He describe Oke as a friend with capacity to deliver.

He said: "All the leaders of the party are united for our party to come back to power. We shall support our candidate and mobilise for him to win next election in the state."

"Labour Party is a party of the past. Its time is gone. We should all embrace PDP because of the future of Akoko and the development of our people," he said.
