Chime dares Nwodo over fresh congress

Supporters of Governor Sullivan Chime yesterday dismissed the order by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a fresh congress in Enugu State.

But Oyo State, which has also been ordered to conduct a fresh congress between today and on Friday, has welcomed the development.

Former National Auditor of the party, Ray Nnaji, told reporters in Enugu that it was out of place for a fresh congress to be conducted in the state when the party has published the list of primaries "and parties have been obeying it from December 28 right from ward to state."

He said: "It is an exercise in futility because of the fact that it is not only that there are several court matters in respect of the issue, the fact remains that the existing executive of the party in the state is still in place. I don't know why a fresh congress should be ordered. As I am talking to you now the executive committees both at the ward, local government and state levels are intact, so why order for fresh congress?.
