Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam and Archbishop Margaret Idahosa are sad over the Jos explosions.

Gabriel Suswam

A statement by an aide to the governor said: "The governor specially commiserates with the families of those who lost their loved ones in the unfortunate incident and prays God Almighty to grant eternal rest to the souls of the departed and to comfort the bereaved families.

Governor Suswam is saddened that this crime was perpetrated on Christmas Day, when Christians the world over were celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ whose coming symbolises peace, love and liberation of man from the clutches of wickedness and sin.

"The governor reiterates his Christmas message to the people of Benue state on the need to shun violence and to thread the path of dialogue in resolving differences. "

Idahosa said it was a pity that such incidents took place at a time Christians were celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

She said: "We are not happy with what is happening in Nigeria. We all need peace. We are praying and committing Nigeria to God's hand."
