Six North-eastern states including Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Adamawa and Taraba have been plunged into darkness following a fault in the 330kV Transmission Line from Kaduna.

Two North Central states are also affected. They are Plateau and Nasarawa states, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said yesterday in a statement by its spokesman Dave Ifabiyi. It said the problem started on Tuesday, September 25.

While apologizing to the government and residents of the affected areas, the TCN said both air and ground quick response teams of the company were working to rectify the fault and restore electric power supply to the affected states.

Just last week, a similar cut was experienced in the South Eastern states.

In Gombe, the power outage has crippled business. The Gombe state PHCN spokesman Hajiya Maryam Isa Mele, who confirmed the development, said, the fault was as a result of a technical problem that developed at the main 330kva line supplying the affected states.
