Anders Lindegaard expects the majority of top clubs will soon introduce a rotation system for goalkeepers.

Lindegaard and David de Gea are currently vying to be in Sir Alex Ferguson's team each week, with the Manchester United boss saying "alternating is not a problem".

The long-established convention has been to install a first-choice goalkeeper for all but the least important games, but Lindegaard thinks the time has come for change.

"Football is a dynamic process," he told MUTV. "People have been used to teams having a goalkeeper who plays in every game, but I don't think that is possible in modern football anymore.

"You have 50 or 60 games a season. That is a big workload physically but it is also very stressful mentally. At big clubs, you will have two very good goalkeepers sharing it. There will always be some kind of difference but in the future you will see this kind of situation more often."

I hope they implement that as soon as possible. It would make sense
