Barely a week ago the group calling itself GhostShell reported that they stole thousands of personal records by breaching the servers of more than 50 universities around the world, including Harvard, Stanford, Cornell, and Princeton.

This group attracted media attention in August when it released a vast quantity of data from banks, government agencies, consulting firms, and many others.

They however explained that their aim of breaching the university websites was driven by desire to focus the public attention on the state of higher education. This still show how hostile the web is and the need to secure important information.
