Purpose of job:

•   The Buyer is responsible for procurement in support of Jumia's fashion woman/men products.

•   In addition, the Buyer will also be responsible for developing competitive sources for and on-time delivery of products and coordinating source selection decisions in line with Jumia activities.

•   The position requires solving problems to improve the flow of products on the website.

Roles and responsibilities includes but not limited:

• Work closely with the brand strategy and marketing team to ensure deep alignment and support, develop and maintain a robust working knowledge base of industry, the categories as well as relevant customer insights in order to deepen category and product relevance that builds an overall competitive edge

• Outstanding networks in the local and international Suppliers/Manufacturers

• Ability to drive and motivate a team

• Strong business acumen and merchant thinking

• The ability to build strong supplier relationships and extensive experience with local and global supplier networks essential.

• Strong Leadership skills

• Sound knowledge of online and/or retail environment

• Solid planning and organizational skills

• A detailed approach to work

Qualifications:

• A relevant Degree or Diploma would be advantageous

• Competency in all computer packages, i.e. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint

Experience & Skills

• Brand buying and experience minimum five years at a reputable retailer or supplier.
