The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has announced that it has been informed by United States Food and Drug Administration of the likeability of patients been injured if they wear face masks with metal parts and coating during a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exam.
According to NAFDAC Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses strong magnets and radio waves to take internal pictures the body and monitor medical treatment.
NAFDAC has advised the public to avoid the use of face masks containing metal parts, like nose piece or staples, nanoparticles, or antimicrobial coating that may contain metal, during MRI Exam.
NAFDAC has therefore advised healthcare providers to ensure that face masks worn by clientsdo not contain metal parts.
NAFDAC has thus charged patients and healthcare providers to report adverse effects experienced from using these products to the nearest NAFDAC office.
