ABUJA (Nigerian National Merit Award Report) – The Governing Board of the Nigerian National Merit Award (NNMA) has on Tuesday May 13, 2014 concluded plans to hold its 2014 First Award Winners’ Lecture.

The Award Winners’ Lecture titled: “Attaining the Demographic Dividends in Nigeria,” which is scheduled to hold on Thursday 15th of May, 2014 at the University of Lagos Main Auditorium at 4:00pm would be delivered by Paulina K. Makinwa – Adebusoye (Professor), who is a recipient of the Nigerian National Order of Merit Award (NNOM)

A statement from the Public Relations Department of NNMA has described the Award Winners’ Lecture as one of the most important programs of the NNMA, designed primarily to assist in creating the enabling environment in which healthy, intellectual discourse and exchange of ideas are fostered. The basic objectives of the Award Winners’ Lectures, according to the report are to officially and publicly promote the platform for the best and brightest of Nigerian Intellectual Laureates to share with their compatriots, the fruits of their intellectual enquiry for national development.

“The lectures are mostly held in University Communities, in order to afford the general public and other stakeholders the opportunity to interact with Laureates, while contributing to the discussion on national programs and priorities. Essentially, each Laureate of the Nigerian National Oder of Merit (NNOM) is expected to deliver an Award Winners’ Lecture at least once in his/her life time,” it remarked.

“The Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Rahamon Adisa Bello (Professor) is to serve as Chief Host, while the occasion will be chaired by the Chairman of the Governing Board of the NNMA, F.S. Idachaba (NNOM) a Professor of Agriculture and Economics of the University of Ibadan and the Vice Chancellor Emeritus of the Kogi State University, Anyigba. NNMA is inviting all Laureates of the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM) as well as stakeholders and the general public to attend and participate in the event.”
