Sule lamidoEx-governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has described the President Muhammadu Buhari led war against corruption as a mere ruse.

Lamido made this known during an interview with the Hausa service of the BBC.

Lamido had wondered how a man who worked under late Sani Abacha, the military dictator, could effectively fight corruption.

“He (Buhari) worked under Abacha; in fact he was the closest to the late military ruler and when it comes to corruption, everybody knows where Abacha’s government stands,” Lamido said.

Continuing, Lamido said: “Buhari is just making noise; there’s no iota of truth in the so-called commitment to the improvement of security and halting graft in the country.”

Abacha had appointed Buhari as chairman of the then Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).

Lamido had been one of the critics of the Buhari led administration and had been in a legal battle with the EFCC for corrupt practices after being locked up alongside his sons in Kano prison.
