It may be correct to say that Nigeria's social sickness is deepening. In the past 24 hours, three major unhealthy events have enveloped the country. First was the tight nature of elections' timetable and its legality problem. The second came the news of the summary and despotic removal of the service chiefs by President Goodluck Jonathan. And  the third had to do with the resurgence of Boko Haram militancy and attacks on the prisons' facilities in Bauchi State and freeing of about 732 prisons' inmates including over 120 Boko Haram militants, held for the 2009 bloody religious violence.

Azu Robert-Mary: I must admit that out of respect, I felt very reluctant to join issues with an accomplished diplomat of Ambassador John Campbell's standing. But the minor misinformation contained in his recent article, 'Nigeria on the brink- what happens if the 2011elections fail?' published in SaharaReporters and Nigeria village Square websites are too weighty and consequential to be ignored. The article in sum reduced the 2011 election as simply an impending clash between the Christian south and Muslim north of Nigeria and sadly dwelt on the religious consequences of the said election rather than ways of guaranteeing its credibility.
