2015: APGA plans restructuring, to field presidential candidate

Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the national leadership of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has promised to embark on comprehensive and total restructuring of the party, with a view to making it strong  enough to effectively vie for all elective positions in the country.

National Secretary of the party, Alhaji Sani Shinkafi, who made the  promise at an interactive session with newsmen yesterday in Abuja, said the restructuring will strengthen and reposition the party  to  enable it compete favourably with other political parties in the next dispensation.

Noting that the party will file  a presidential candidate in the next general election, Alhaji Shinkafi said, "unlike in the last April presidential election when the party supported President Goodluck Jonathan 's candidacy, we have decided that APGA will field a presidential  candidate in 2015.

Assuring that the party will come out stronger of the current crisis; the national secretary said the crisis which the party is going through was the handiwork of some people who are not comfortable with the progress of the party.

According to him, "they are attacking the party because of its bright future. It is the sign of  having a good future. In 2015, we will field a presidential candidate. We will restructure the party to make it stronger  ahead of the 2015 polls", he said.

Apparently reacting to  the statement by the leader of MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike that the APGA National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh should stop using him (Shinkafi) to insult Ojukwu's family, the National Secretary said he is too big to be used by anyone.

"Chief Umeh cannot use me as a stooge. I cannot drag the name of our national leader, Chief Ojukwu into mud.

Shinkafi, while regretting crisis, said "it is very unfortunate that less than three months after the burial of the Chairman, Board of Trustees, BOT, of the party, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, they dragging his name into controversy."
