Job Title: Equipment Coordinator

Location: APM Terminals, Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria

Company: Maersk Nigeria

Responsible for Container Handling Equipments (Trucks, Cranes, Empty Handlers etc) pre-checks at the start of shifts with the assistance of the operators and records maintained. This position reports to the Shift Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

•   Leads to ensure that all operators perform pre-checks on all Terminal Equipments Container Handling Equipments (Trucks, Cranes, Empty Handlers etc) and maintain records

•   Liaise with technical for any upkeep on the equipments with regarding to maintenance / repairs and availability back to operation

•   Assist the technical / operations in times of need to move the spreader trailer / OOG trailer for operations

•   In case of an accidents / incidents, assist HSSE with the investigation

•   Assist maintenance in creating job cards

•   Requires close association with technical planning to report the type of faults / damages or malfunctions and in preparing the job cards as required.

•   Understands how actions impact internally between sections and external customers, responds readily to issues raised by managers and keeps all in the loop on progress.

•   Anticipates problems, manages prevention, identifies key issues and creates contingency plans and alternate solutions.

•   Adapts fast to changing situation and requirements even when work is in progress.

•   Liaise between planning equipment controllers and technical planning when equipments become available for operations

•   Interacts efficiently and develops better understanding with the team; interacts efficiently with other departments

Your Profile:

•   The position requires a Professional Standard of Knowledge on equipment coordination through functional/general expertise.

•   Two (2) to three (3) years experience in terminal/shipping operations.

•   Minimum SSCE/WAEC high school leaving certificate OR college degree in any discipline.

•   Ability to work under pressure and meet set deadlines.

•   Works well with close supervision.

•   Adapts to changing priorities and unforeseen situations and can take ownership of work.

•   Meets daily challenges with a positive and proactive outlook. Strives to improve on deadlines. Ability to work on shifts, deal with the staff on shifts in a positive manner

•   Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate in English and Pidgin

•   Trustworthy, and able to work highly independently and in teams.
