Division:   Strategy & Business Development

Reports To:   Director-Strategy & Business Development

Job Summary:

Support the Director-Strategy & Business Development in the development of Etisalat Nigeria's business strategy and the associated 5-year business plan

Review the market, technology trends and competitive environment in order to identify opportunities and risks which need to be accounted for within the strategy and business plan

Review and/ or assist in the development of key functional strategies across the business

Develop and/ or lead key cross-functional strategic business development initiatives

Principal Functions:

Corporate Strategy Development

•   Support the development and documentation of Etisalat Nigeria's strategy and 5-year business plan

•   Co-ordinate and refresh the corporate strategy annually; update the broad definition of the operational programmes developed to execute the strategy

•   Document and communicate Etisalat Nigeria's strategic direction and objectives, as needed, to ensure understanding of roles and responsibilities

Functional Strategy

•   Support the development of departmental/ functional strategies across the business as key components of the overall corporate strategy

•   Develop broad guidelines for the translation of departmental strategies into specific operational plans and programmes

Market and Competitive Analysis

•   Assess and monitor industry trends, competitors' activities and new technological developments highlighting impact on Etisalat Nigeria's strategy and operations

Business Development Initiatives

•   Create business cases for strategic options under consideration by Etisalat Nigeria

•   Lead and/ or support ongoing cross-functional initiatives critical to the business strategy

•   Support the Director-Strategy & Business Development in negotiations for potential acquisitions and partnerships

•   Identify and develop potential partnerships to acquire critical capabilities for Etisalat Nigeria

Other

•   Maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

•   Manage external consultants as required

•   Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Director-Strategy & Business Development

Educational Requirements:

First degree in Business, Management and/ or related disciplines

Relevant postgraduate qualification will provide an advantage (MBA preferred)

Experience & Skills:

Between eight (8) and twelve (12) years' directly relevant cognate experience, including at least most recent three (3) years at management level in a large/ multinational operational business environment or most recent three (3) to five (5) years post-MBA experience in a management consulting role

Ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate advanced-level proficiency and/ or knowledge in the following areas:

•   Strategy and business development

•   Strategy formulation, evaluation and launch

•   Customer focus

•   Telecoms industry business environment and trends

•   Report writing

•   Corporate planning and corporate performance management principles, policies and techniques

•   Resource management

•   Research analysis and evaluation techniques

•   Budgeting and control techniques

•   Business modelling concepts, methodologies and leading practices

•   Lateral co-ordination
