Division: Network Operations

Reports To: Manager-Access Support

Job Summary:

Operate and maintain hybrid and public power supply, manage fuel delivery and consumption

Supervise and co-ordinate DC and AC replacements, BTS power optimization and BSC/MGW power operation

Supervise and ensure that all power operations activities of Establish-Operate-Transfer(EOT) vendors and partners are in accordance with agreed scope, SLAs and best practice

Principal Functions:

Perform acceptance on new power installation to ensure that all work packets, services and materials are delivered in accordance with contractual agreements, scope and quality

Provide high level support to the regional team on power issues; co-ordinate resolution and properly close issues

Handle community and access issues affecting BTS sites

Assess work quality of power contractors to identify possible shortfalls and instruct correction of same for the realization of optimal performance

Monitor and control power capacity utilization; ensure optimal safe limits are not exceeded on generators, rectifiers, UPS, AVRs, etc

Escalate capacity issues in a timely manner and make recommendations for optimization and upgrades as and when required

Prepare and present periodic reports on power availability; escalate any serious issues which may negatively impact on network quality and availability

Maintain adequate and up-to-date inventory of all power infrastructure within purview

Educational Requirements:

First degree or equivalent in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/ or any other relevant discipline

Experience & Skills:

At least four (4) years' directly relevant post-NYSC work experience in mechanical/ electrical (power) systems (diesel generators, rectifiers, UPS, inverters, PDF/ APD panels, GTS/ ATS/ AMF panels, gear switches, HVAC, public mains supply, power and signal cabling, safety and isolation systems, etc), preferably within a large telecoms and/ or technology-driven business environment focussed on power operations and maintenance

Ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate expert-level technical competence in AC and DC power operations and maintenance, problem solving, time management, and reporting and communication skills
