There are several options one can use to encrpt selected texts for security reasons or privacy in some cases. Besides the use of notepad++ is among the simple available encryption methods, here is another better way to protect your texts in Evernote desktop.

Evernote is a very popular productivity app that can be used on multiple platform s and devices. One can access notes from nearly everywhere earning it a credit as an ideal app. Check the steps on how to use the app.

Using windows or Mac Evernote client, select the text you want to encrypt, then right click on the text in windows or command-click in OS X.When the shortcut menu appears, select Encrypt Selected Text. You can also use the shortcut, Ctrl+Shift+X in Windows, or Shift-Command-X in OS X.

The first time you encrypt text in Evernote, you'll be prompted to type in your passphrase twice and a password hint is optional.

The encrypted text will appear appear as graphics.

To decrypt text in Windows, double-click on the graphic, then enter your passphrase. You can also right-click on it and choose to decrypt the text permanently. In OS X, clicking on the graphic will allow you to choose between decrypting the text for your current session, or decrypting it permanently. You can also decrypt the text from the Web version of Evernote, as well as the mobile apps.
