Gold’ll be best for Murray – Egbuchunam

President of Nigeria's premier tennis club, the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Barrister Sam Egbuchunam is praying fervently for Andy Murray to win the Olympic gold medal in the men's singles event.

Egbuchunam, who assumed the presidency of the club last month said although there was a strong challenge for the Scott who is representing Team Great Britain at the London Olympics, it would be a thing of joy if he won the title.

"I know with the likes of Federer and Djukovic at the Games, it will be an uphill task for Andy Murray to win it. It is my belief that with the home support and a bit of luck, he can win it," Egbuchunam said.

"They are all accomplished professionals but an Olympic gold is something special. The players go there for two reasons; to represent their country and for personal glory. It could be anybody's game."

The club boss observed that at the 2012 Wimbledon, "Murray played the best tennis but was unfortunate to have met the master in Federer. This is the opportunity for him to make up. The best to happen to Murray and the British people is for him to win."
