IBADAN—Three persons were injured in an auto-crash involving a fuel tanker, yesterday, in Ibadan.

Also, farmlands spanning several kilometres  in Ido Local Government Area were destroyed as the oil tanker emptied its 33,000 litres  of gasoline there.

The accident which happened at Bakatari on Ibadan-Abeokuta Expressway contaminated other streams in the area.

The fuel also led to the loss of some fish in fish-ponds at Ayegbami area of the local government.

The owner of one of the  fish ponds, Alhaji Taofeek Adeogun, said many ponds were covered by the oil that streamed into them.

He lamented that millions of naira was lost in the incident.

Vanguard gathered that as the truck with number plate XY 85 LSR emptied its contents, there was stampede as people in the area ran for fear of explosion.

The trailer which was said to be coming from Ogun State had a tyre burst.

To prevent people from scooping oil,  policemen from Apata Police Station were on guard.
