Manchester United's Robin van Persie has backed the Football Association's decision not to charge him over an alleged elbow on Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was angered by the incident that took place during United's 3-0 away win on Sunday and called for action to be taken.

However, the FA decided to take it no further after referee Howard Webb reviewed footage of the incident and said he did not consider it to have been violent conduct.

Asked about the FA's decision, Van Persie told voetbal.nl: "I agree with the union."
