Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Dr Ogbonnaya Onu has urged all the opposition parties to form an alliance against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in next year's general elections.

Dr Ogbonnaya Onu

Onu said this is the only way to neutralise the influence of the  ruling party.

He said: "A defeat of the PDP, is possible if all the opposition political parties could come together, put their differences behind them and form an alliance, work as a team and produce formidable single candidates in all the 36 states.

He spoke with reporters in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital during his tour of the state.

Onu, who was governor of Abia State on the platform of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), wants an end to the PDP-led administration, which he described as "failed, problematic and tyrannical".

By his formula; he said: "The opposition parties in every state would present single candidates for the governorship, and national Assembly elections. The candidates could emerge from any opposition party, and then the rest would support by canvassing votes from the masses". With this, he noted, the opposition would be able to defeat all the PDP candidates across the country.

Onu did not however, explain his trick on how an opposition party could win the presidency.

He said: "What matters at this critical time is defeating the PDP in every state and working for the nation's future.

"The PDP should be voted out at the polls because its government has failed to deliver its promises on power supply, water, economy, health, education, agriculture and employment within the 12 years of democratic rule'',he said
