BENIN—RELIEF materials worth over N3 million were, weekend, donated to victims of flood disaster in Estako-Central and Estako-East Local Government Areas of Edo State by the Majority Leader of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Phillip Shuaibu.

The lawmaker, who visited the camps housing the flood victims in the two local government areas with members of his family, also went with musicians to entertain the flood victims, saying that was his own "way of showing the victims love and to let them know that they are not alone even during Salah celebration."

While urging public spirited Nigerians and organizations, irrespective of their ethnic and political affiliations to donate and give succor to the displaced, he noted that although the affected local government councils were not parts of his political constituency, he needed to make the people feel love in the face of their present circumstances.

He said: "I must tell you that your pains are our pain, just as your tears are ours. You must not despair, the hope that has kept you alive till today must remain with you as we all fight to sort things out. You are not alone in this situation; we will all fight this out together and smile as well at the end of the day."

Among the items donated were bags of rice, ground nut oil, palm oil, cartons of noodles, and cartons of maggi and bags of salt.

Speaking, his wife, Mrs. Mariam Shuaibu, advised the victims not to rush back home until government gave  the go-ahead.
