The money problems that have plagued Malaga surfaced again in the wake of Wednesday night's 4-3 Copa del Rey last 32 first leg win at Cacereno, with coach Manuel Pellegrini and his players saying they would meet on Thursday to discuss their options after wages again went unpaid.
Issues between Malaga's Qatari backers and their players appeared to have been settled in recent months as the team bounced back from a troubled summer to perform impressively on the field, with owner Abdullah Al-Thani even attending last week's 1-0 Champions League win over AC Milan at La Rosaleda and afterwards suggesting his investment would continue.
However, reports in the local media suggest that players are now angry that back-wages owed, which total €9 million, have not arrived by the end of October as had been agreed.
