Nokia's 'Here' launch is a new map strategy

Nokia company seems to be focussing on mapping now more than ever. It it is giving its mapping a boost with the introduction of its Here cloud based location brand and platform which was unveiled during a media event in San Franscisco.

Nokia's CEO believes that the quality and quantity of data available will enable Nokia to transform mapping in ways we haven't thought possible yet.This comes after the company acquired Earthmine and its 3D-modelling technology. Nokia and Earthmine will combine their photograhic capture and modelling solutions into one process to tale street level capturing to the next level.

During this event the company stressed the importance of weaving togather information from many different sources and methods for building the kind of comprehensive mapping platform.
