Context/Scope:   

Guinness Nigeria Plc is part of the Diageo Africa and the No. 1 market globally by volume on Brand Guinness. Africa innovation is second only to the US in total Diageo contribution delivering c. £1B NSV by F16, with Nigeria innovation contributing above 25% of total (F12 delivery of 72% of NSV incremental).

This role will work on both strategic portfolio programs and specific projects and deliver the marketing and commercial aspects of new to world, existing or renovation projects. The Innovation development agenda is broad working across Stout, Spirits, RTD, Adult Malt Drinks, Spirits and Formats.

Purpose of Role:

To make innovation the engine for growth and build shareholder value by identifying highly differentiated new brands, products and delivery systems which satisfy our customers' and consumers' current and future needs and driving them to Gate 6.

Key Accountabilities:

·    Develops the Portfolio Strategy for Innovation with the Marketing Manager and Marketing Director for F12 – F16.

·    Manages a range of projects across Nigeria with a special focus on the Innovation Pipeline agenda from F12- F16, through cross-functional, regional and global teams, while meeting project budgets and key deliverables

·    Manages and owns the project marketing budget by brand – minimum of £5m. Management and accountability for implementation of A&P spend across portfolio, efficiencies and evaluation

·    Significant influencing agenda with key stakeholders including Guinness Leadership Team, Regional Brand/Innovation Director and Global Brand Teams

·    Develops ground breaking creative solutions with potential to deliver significant business growth

·    Leads consumer opportunity identification and builds these into a robust innovation strategy

Qualifications and Experience Required:

·    University Degree in Marketing/Business or other related discipline preferred though not essential.  Post Graduate Qualification is an added advantage.

·    4 to 6 years proven experience in Innovation, marketing/brand strategy and implementation

·    Ability to work under own supervision/initiative and proactively

·    Strong Project Management experience

·    Ability to develop powerful innovation ideas that inspire consumers through fantastic concepts, liquids and packs

·    Uses analytical skills and intuition to generate Innovation strategies that deliver growth

·    Strong Commercial acumen

·    Ability to balance creativity and business solutions

·    Ability to influence across different levels within the organisation

·    Builds great relationships and aligns individuals and teams to a common goal

Work Location: The role is based in Lagos and many require some travel within or outside the country.
