News - Chime Returns To Enugu Amidst Tumultuous Welcome

 AT exactly 3.05pm Friday, Enugu State governor, Sullivan Chime returned to Enugu to the warm reception of family members, friends and officials of his administration who thronged the Akanu Ibiam International airport Enugu to welcome him.

Aboard a white coloured private jet, M-Bety, and wearing dark-coloured glasses, Chime, whose official car was stationed about 10 metres away from the private jet that conveyed him, waved enthusiastically at the crowd that included the acting governor, Sunday Onyebuchi.

Spotting a cream white jacket, blue-stripped shirt and a pair of black trousers, the governor acknowledged cheers from the ecstatic crowd that included many federal and state legislators, traditional rulers and top government officials before being driven to the Governor's Lodge.

The governor's well wishers had thronged the airport as early as noon to await his arrival. Chime had been away from the state since September 19, last year.

Although unconfirmed reports had it that his long absence since then had been due to ill-health, his officials had insisted that the governor was actually enjoying his "accumulated leave," adding that he would be back at the expiration of the leave.

The officials had also said he handed over the running of the state to his Deputy, Onyebuchi, in acting capacity before leaving the country, adding that his return would mark an end to speculations to the contrary over his wellbeing.
